Sunset at the sea – a motif that has been photographed and painted many thousands of times, but which still has huge potential in cross embroidery. I based this cross-stitch motif on a painting by Laurits Regner Tuxen from 1909. The painter lived in Denmark and so was very familiar with the sea and the tough but beautiful nature of the north. I am very pleased that I was able to simplify this atmospheric motif to just 28 different colors for cross embroidery. The power and warmth of the sun remain unrestricted. And the cold of the night, which is reflected in the black water, looks threatening, but at the same time attractive and exciting. The size of the cross stitch motif is 250 x 200 stitches, this is a good compromise between effort and quality. A little tip: You can also achieve a very interesting effect if you use a black AIDA fabric and do not embroider the black stitches of color DMC 3371 – Ebony!
